Review: SK-II Facial Treatment Essence

Hey y’allzz

Back with another skincare review for chu. Cult product, need I say more? I’m sure all of you know of this “Miracle Water” the SK-II Facial Treatment Essence. Personally, I’ve never gone near any SK-II Counters in the mall because I know the price point and I could not see myself spending that much on a skincare product.

So I finally caved after a decade of knowing the brand and I got mine at Luxola two months back only because I had points and it was on sale so I used up all my points and paid half the price for the Pitera Essence Set. This one’s a great starter kit coz it comes with the FTE and a mini SK-II Clear Lotion and one of their Sheet Mask. But the star of the show is of course the Facial Treatment Essence.

There’s only a quarter left in my bottle means I’ve gone through a lot and got a pretty firm opinion on the product. So here goes…

The packaging

I dont really like to describe product packaging in my posts unless its necessary but this one’s really not my favorite. The FTE comes in a frosted glass bottle which is heavy and not very travel friendly. I had to pour mine out into a small bottle and take it with me on my BKK trip last month. Due to the price of the product, I always fear breaking the bottle and feeding my floor with the glorious FTE. Hence, not very user friendly too. LOL

The product

SK-II’s signature product, the much-loved and most awarded bestseller, Facial Treatment Essence has over 90% Pitera™, the miracle ingredient discovered over 30 years ago that remains essentially unchanged till today.

Its irreplaceable formula gently exfoliates the face and helps moderate the skin surface renewal cycle.

In just 14 days, your skin’s 5 dimensions are visibly transformed: spots are less visible, appearance of wrinkles is reduced, skin texture is more refined, firmness is improved, and radiance is beautifully elevated. Skin becomes breathtakingly crystal clear.

Basically it’s like water that stinks so bad. SO BADDDD. But I somehow got used to it heheh. Coz of the consistency though, it sometimes drip all over my hands so you must always be extra careful. It sinks in almost immediately after a few pats on the face. The way I use FTE:

Cleanser > Toner > SK-II Facial Treatment Essence > Serum > Moisturizer > Eye Cream

Overall thoughts

The claim that “in just 14 days the skin is transformed” is pretty true I must admit. It wasnt anything drastic that I went “WOWWWW! must go online to buy 3 more bottles as backups!” :p But I noticed that my skin had a glow, felt hydrated and looks a little more firm and supple after using this. I try a lot of skincare products so I know when something is making a difference on my skin. And this product did. However, it did not help reduce my spots whatsoever though. BUT it did not break me out either.

So far I am loving the Facial Treatment Essence for what it’s doing to my skin although I think that its a product that you buy only when you have the budget or when you wanna splurge and treat yourself. It’s not a must have in your regime because an essence is not actually a core product for a basic skincare routine, it’s an extra step but it definitely helps.

Will I repurchase? Maybe not immediately after i run outta this one coz I wanna test the ever so famous theory people have to say about SK-II that “when you stop using it, your skin gets dull and gross” hahaha. So maybe I might go back to this if that actually happens. I’ll update you guys for sure.

You can get SK-II products at all SK-II counters or Luxola. The prices differ a little but when there’s a discount you can’t beat Luxola. That’s where I got mine 🙂

Prices on Luxola:

SK-II Facial Treatment Essence (75ml) – rm237.50

SK-II Pitera Essence Set – rm237.50 (this is the one i bought but is currently out of stock)

Thanks for reading my loveeeeeeeee! xx

Don’t tempt me. my willpower is weak enough as it is! Btw, if I had to fork out an extortionate amount, I’d rather it came in a glass bottle –> plastic is great and all but since I am already paying so much, hahaha!

Splurge if you must! YOLO hahahah. That’s a good point I guess that’s why they go with glass as well for us to feel that’s our purchase is worthwhile :p xx
