Review: Shu Uemura skin:FIT Foundation

Shu Uemura Malaysia invited me to the launch of their new skin:FIT water foundation a couple of weeks back and I was beyondddd excited coz I have always been a foundation kinda girl. I have tried so many in the past and it’s safe to say that I know very well what works for my skin and what doesn’t. In a nutshell, the event was informative yet short and sweet. Just the way I like it!

Too pretty ❤

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURESAt the event, we were introduced to this revolutionary foundation and witnessed a makeover on a model just to get an idea on how to use this foundation with the pentagon brushing sponge that comes with it.

Double sided pentagon brushing sponge. This sponge is used dry and not damp.

I was matched to the shade 754 medium beige. It looks dark on my face but after I blend it out, it matches my neck rather perfectly.

Shu Uemura skin:FIT is a long wearing “sheer summer makeup” formulated to “fit your skin” perfectly in hot and humid weather with oil control properties. (YAY for oily combination skin people!) It was tested in Singapore with positive feed backs. The reason why a well-known international brand such as Shu Uemura conducted product testing in Singapore is coz of the weather similarities of Singapore and Malaysia.

The consistency of the foundation is watery with a bi-phase formula. To be honest, the formula is not like anything I’ve tried before and I was pretty skeptical as I was only used to full coverage foundations. But surprisingly, I have acne scars and this gave me a medium coverage which is more than good enough for light makeup days. This foundation provides a semi matte finish that looks natural on the skin. It has no offensive scents and is also oil free and has SPF30 so you’re all set for sun protection.

  • The way to apply it:

1. You need to always shake the foundation because of the bi-phase formula that separates when it’s not shaken

2.  Pour a couple drops onto your palms

3. With the “brush” side of the sponge, distribute the foundation working in sections of the face

4. Blend it into the skin with a patting motion with the other side of the sponge.

*Makeup artist tip: For touch ups, bring the sponge along with you after using it and wet the brush side of the sponge with any facial spray (avene/evian) and you will find that there will be enough foundation on the sponge to touch up your face!

  • My thoughts

I have oily combo skin for reference and I’ve tried this foundation to work which was a whole 8 hours just to put it to the test. My first thought was that my skin looks so healthy and it felt SO LIGHT on the skin. This foundation makes my skin feel like it can actually breathe. It didnt cling onto my dry patches or sinks into my pores either.

By the end of the day, the foundation still looked great and my blush was still on my cheeks. As for oil control, I didn’t stay completely matte for the whole 8 hours but it definitely did not make me look or feel like an oil sleek either. And one more thing, this doesn’t break me out 🙂

With just one layer of the foundation, spot concealer, powder and blush on top. You can see that it doesn’t look thick at all even after setting with powder. I loveeee the finish.

  •  Overall

Im really impressed with this foundation and I have nothing bad to say about it at all honestly. It’s a perfect everyday foundation for work coz of the lasting power and how comfortable it feels on my skin. Thanks Shu Uemura Malaysia for letting me try out this foundation! xx
