Review: NARS Matte Velvet Skin Tint & NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer

Hey people! Been a while since I reviewed makeups especially base makeup and I’ve been trying a ton of different ones because my skin went back to being greasy since I’ve been off Oratane for almost 2 months now. But that story is for another day. I’m here now to share with you my honest thoughts on the new NARS Matte Velvet Skin Tint and also their ever so famous Radiant Creamy Concealer. I was given these products along with some other ones from NARS Malaysia to try out and some I did for a month now and lets do the diving shall we?

  •  NARS Matte Velvet Skin Tint SPF30 in Alaska

What it is:
An oil-free skin tint to protect and perfect with medium, buildable coverage and a soft-matte finish.

What it does:
This oil-free formula wears comfortably, maintaining skin’s natural moisture barrier while working to control shine throughout the day. Transparent Blurring Powders help to blur imperfections, even the look of skintone, and smooth the appearance of pores and fine lines. The powders’ unique, spherical shape compresses like a cushion, delivering a velvety-smooth, touchable feel and superior comfort on application. Vitamins C, E, and broad spectrum SPF 30 protect against free-radical damage caused by environmental stress. Simply touch and go for an effortlessly perfected look.

  • Packaging, Scent, Coverage, Finish

Lemme just say that I love the packaging. I prefer this one rather than their regular glass bottles mainly because it’s easier to travel with and it’s also lighter. The scent however, is a little strong but honestly for me, as I’ve mentioned before, I don’t really care bout scents and I’ll just deal with it if the product is good.

I am a full coverage kinda girl. I rarely do light makeup because I personally like to go full on. At first, I thought this has a light coverage being a skin tint and all but no. This has a medium to full coverage depending on how much you use and I LOVE that. If you use a brush, it will provide more coverage and with a beauty blender it takes off the coverage just a bit, not too much. It blends into my skin seamlessly but you have to make sure you moisturize really well prior to this ok? Otherwise it will cling onto dry patches and that’s not cute.

  1. Bare skin moisturized and primed
  2. One layer of NARS Matte Velvet Skin Tint
  3. NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer to cover spots
  4. Finished look with no powder

I apply only a light thin layer and it covered most of my old scars. For the new pigmented scars, I go in with a concealer to spot conceal but that’s just me. You can definitely pull this off without a concealer if you’ve not much imperfections. It’s pretty buildable I tried layering it and it wasn’t patchy. As for the finish, it has a skin like satin finish on my skin. Not a flat matte and not extremely glowy. I set this with powder because my skin is on the oily side.

  • Overall thoughts

I have used this many times with different primers and different setting powders and all I can say is that I love it. I used it once for 14 hours and it did not budge on me. I only had to blot twice during the 14 hours which was realllllly good so in terms of oil control, it’s pretty amazing. I get the best results when I apply it with a brush, using Benefit’s Porefessional primer, NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer and set it with Too Faced Primed and Poreless compact powder. I have always loved NARS complexion products so it’s no surprise that I adore this one too.

  • NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer in Custard

This is my HOLY GRAIL Concealer. I have mentioned it countless times on my blog and whenever people ask me to recommend a concealer I always tell them to get this. The people from NARS said that this concealer is best when paired with the Matte Velvet Skin Tint and they were right. Match made in heaven.

Although it is a liquid concealer, the consistency is a bit thicker but it blends like a dream and it covers dark circles and hyper pigmentation so so well. I never have to build it up to get a full coverage even on new and dark pimple scars. It doesn’t crease on my undereyes and it stays all day on my spots I LOVEEEE THIS. I cannot recommend this enough. I have tried so many concealers in my life and nothing can ever beat this one. A whole lifetime supply of this will complete me. That’s how much I love it haha.

  • NARS Spring Collection 2016

Since we are talking bout NARS I wanna share my love for their Spring 2016 Collection in this post too 🙂

  • NARS Duo Eyeshadow in Hammamet

I’ve never owned any NARS eyeshadow and I’m glad this is my first because the color is right up my alley. I love earth toned colors and that’s basically my go to look.

In this duo you get a Matte Beige shade and a Bronzed Rose shimmer shade and they’re incredibly pigmented.

These blend so easily and they’re very buttery and not chalky whatsoever. The color payoff is amazing and you don’t have to keep dipping your brush in it because of the pigmentation. I absolutely love this.

  • NARS Dual Intensity Eyeshadow in Cressida

I mean, look at the blue isn’t it insanely pretty. I don’t usually go for blue shadows but this on is too pretty not to use so I stepped outta my comfort zone and I love it. This one’s a little different from their regular shadows. Same as their Dual Intensity blushes, you can use it wet or dry:

Dry Application: Sophisticated Sheer Finish

  • Apply using Wet/ Dry Eyeshadow Brush #49 for a sheer soft touch of sensual color

Wet Application: High-Impact Finish

  • May be applied wet with the Wet/ Dry Eyeshadow Brush #49 for mind-blowing impact with dramatic luminous matte and high shine finishes

Even when you use it dry, you’ll be satisfied with the color payoff but for a more intense look, using it wet will give you the ultimate color payoff. This shade is perfect for a pop of color to your look. It lasts all day on my lids.

  • NARS Lip Gloss in Instant Crash

I own NARS’s Christopher Kane Lipgloss and I loved it and same goes to this. I usually avoid glosses because I find most of them to be very sticky and messy and I just prefer lip balms but NARS glosses have the perfect formula for me. I don’t own that many but these have the best formula that I’ve tried. They aren’t sticky and they feel really comfortable on the lips. You can get a decent amount of color although it’s a gloss and especially this nude shade, it just ties my look together and it’s also perfect for everyday use.

Processed with VSCO with f2 preset

So those are my thought on the latest NARS products that I own. NARS never disappoints and I am a legit #NArsissist :p

You can get NARS products at NARS boutiques in Pavillion, KLCC, Midvalley and also Gurney Penang 🙂 Thank you NARS Malaysia for these products and thank YOU for reading guys! xx
